What is ShipVehicles?
ShipVehicles is a service that connects consumers, vehicle dealers, and auto shipping companies in the most efficient way possible. Consumers and dealers use our service to post a Request for Quote (RFQ) on ShipVehicles. Auto transport companies use our system to locate and provide quotes for loads that will help them fill their trucks to capacity. We have gone to great lengths to make this the ideal forum from which to serve all of our customers.

Who should use ShipVehicles?
Anyone looking to secure vehicle shipping within the United States. Whether you just bought your dream car on eBay and it is 1500 miles away, or you just got a new job and don’t want to ride your Harley Fat Boy across country in the middle of the winter.
>> Return to Consumer FAQ list
How much does it cost?
RFQs are FREE. We are focused on delivering the most efficient way for consumers to locate, research, and secure vehicle shipping.
>> Return to Consumer FAQ list
How long does it take?
RFQs are open to quotes until the end of the next business day at 5:00 pm PST (Pacific Standard Time). So, if you submit an RFQ on Monday morning, it will be ready Tuesday at 5:00 pm PST. RFQs posted on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be ready Monday at 5:00 pm PST.

What if I don't find a vehicle shipping quote that works for me? You may simply submit a vehicle shipping Request for Quote (RFQ). You may want to adjust your preferred dates, the type of trailer you prefer, or provide more information about your vehicle if you aren’t getting many quotes.
>> Return to Consumer FAQ list
How does the RFQ process work?
Once you have submitted your RFQ, it is posted to our ShipVehicles system. Car transport companies are notified when new RFQs are entered into the system, or they can actively search for loads based on several parameters such as where the vehicle is, where it is going, and what type it is. Once an auto transporter has found an RFQ they wish to quote, they simply type in the amount they wish to charge and submit it back to the system. At the end of the next business day at 5:00 pm PST, the RFQ process will be complete, and you will be able to see all the quotes provided and select the best one for your needs. Once you secure your quote, the auto shipper will then contact you to make the final shipping arrangements.
>> Return to Consumer FAQ list
Is ShipVehicles an auto shipping broker?
No. The purpose of ShipVehicles is simply to help you find the most cost-effective and efficient means by which to ship your vehicles. We do not work in partnership with the shippers that belong to our service, and we strive to be completely objective, ensuring that you get the best deal. We collect no fee from consumers and you are free to research and choose whichever provider you prefer.
>> Return to Consumer FAQ list
Can I ship more than one vehicle at a time?
Yes, of course. Simply select the Multi-Vehicle RFQ form when submitting your RFQ. You will be able to add as many vehicles as you wish, as long as they are all originating from and destined for the same area.
>> Return to Consumer FAQ list
What if the car, truck or motorcycle I am shipping has unusual or has odd dimensions?
This is very important to auto shipping companies, especially those operating enclosed trailers. For example, most enclosed trailers cannot ship large SUVs like Ford Expeditions. Perhaps the car has been lowered significantly and might be difficult to get up a trailer ramp. Maybe you are shipping an Amphicar, or a race car etc. In any case, the RFQ form has an area where you can detail special aspects about your vehicle. Auto transporters will be able to see this when they evaluating your RFQ, so they won’t have any unwanted surprises and your vehicle won’t be delayed in shipment.
>> Return to Consumer FAQ list
What if the vehicle I am shipping doesn't run?
Many car shipping companies offer services for vehicles that are not running. They may add a small surcharge for this capability. There is a box on the RFQ form you will check if your vehicle is not running.
>> Return to Consumer FAQ list
What if I need auto transport done by a specific date?
When you fill out an RFQ, you can select specific dates that the vehicle must be picked-up and also when it must be delivered. However, ShipVehicles cannot guarantee that a auto shipper will adhere to these dates. They serve only as a guideline for the RFQ process.
>> Return to Consumer FAQ list
Do I need to provide insurance for my vehicle while it is being shipped?
Car transport companies are required to carry liability insurance for the vehicles they ship, up to at least the value of those vehicles. It is advisable to continue your own insurance until delivery is completed. If you have purchased the vehicle from a dealer, their insurance may cover the vehicle until it is in your possession.
>> Return to Consumer FAQ list
Does ShipVehicles provide a contract for services between the customer and the vehicle shipping company?
No. ShipVehicles is a service to help you find affordable and timely shipping for your vehicle, and we cannot guarantee the services of auto shipping firms in our network. Auto transporters typically send you a contract for services once you have finalized the shipping details with them.

Once you have placed your quote, you will have the option of canceling the quote. Once you have cancelled a quote, you will not be able to bid on the RFQ again. After you have placed your quote you will also have the opportunity to lower your quote one time, before the RFQ closes.
>> Return to Shipper FAQ list
When will I know if my quote was accepted?
You will notified immediately via e-mail and on ShipVehicles.com if the customer secures the quote online. They may also contact you directly and accept your quote that way. Quotes are active for three business days from the close of the RFQ. The customer has this time to review, and then accept or decline your quote. If the customer accepts the quote on ShipVehicles.com, you will also be notified immediately if your quote is not accepted and the customer selects another quote.
>> Return to Shipper FAQ list
Where do the Shipper Ratings come from?
Three weeks after the scheduled delivery of the vehicle, an e-mail will be sent to the customer you served. They will be asked to go to ShipVehicles.com and provide ratings on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being poor, 5 being excellent) regarding the service you provided them, the timeliness of the delivery, and the vehicle care you provided.
>> Return to Shipper FAQ list
Do I always have to search for RFQs?
No. With our RFQ Alert settings, you can create search agents that automatically go out and find the types of loads you are most interested in. For example, if you specialize in high dollar vehicles, you can ask the system to only notify you when RFQs for vehicles valued at $50,000 or more come enter the system. These are then displayed on your RFQ Alert box on your unique My Quotes page and can also be sent to you via e-mail.
>> Return to Shipper FAQ list
What if I cannot contact the person who accepted my quote?
If within three business days of accepting your quote, you are unable to contact your customer; the RFQ will be considered terminated. If you offered to pick up the vehicle in less than three business days from the end of the RFQ, the RFQ terminates once that date has passed. However, you are free to honor the quote for as long as you wish.
