The Greenhouse Gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy Use in Transportation

The government has finally started to realize that they have to regulate the amount of pollutants that get released into the air every day. The temperature of the Earth has slowly been rising and if something isn’t done to stop it, it will get to the point where it’s irreversible. A permanent increase in temperature – even as little as 3 or 4 degrees – will have a huge effect on the world. That’s why the US government has been putting a great deal of emphasis on environment protection.

The Greenhouse Gases

Greenhouse gases are the pollutants produced by vehicle emissions. These gases include carbon monoxide and methane. They travel up into the atmosphere, where they produce something known as the greenhouse effect. The gases become trapped in the atmosphere, creating a sort of blanket of pollution that slowly raises the temperature of the earth. This can be extremely dangerous for the planet and the living things on it.

Regulated Emissions

In order to curb the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the government has implemented emission standards. These standards affect the companies that produce gasoline as well as the vehicles and equipment that use it. The standards are often revised as years go by. The regulations have had a very positive effect on the amount of pollution being put into the atmosphere.

Energy Use in Transportation

Every transportation device in the world needs something to power it. At this time, the most common energy source used in transportation is gasoline. There are different types and different brands but most use gasoline because it’s usually cheap and it’s readily available. Some people also use electricity as well.
